Wordless Wednesday (almost)
Can you tell he’s not happy? He’s getting 4 new teeth; 2 on top and 2 on bottom. Oh the joy of teething!

I should find time to write this post earlier in the day. I always wait until after everything else is done and Cal is in bed. Then, by the time I sit down I’m ready for bed. Tonight is no exception, with the first day back to work behind me, I’m pooped. So this will be short (and I’ll add pictures later, I have a few but the camera is in the basement at the other computer and Fred is busy working on school stuff there).
And that’s it! I told you it’d be short this week! And now I’m off to relax a little before calling it a night. Have a good week!
Today’s word is:
I don’t have a picture to go with it for a couple reasons. First, the word involves our loving dog, Nina, who is severely terrified of any electronic device, making her very hard to capture on camera. Second, I really doubt anyone wants to see her wound. And third, our camera is broken and I haven’t gotten the loaner out much yet.
Want to know what’s wrong with our pooch? She had a raspberry looking (in color, texture, shape and size) cyst removed from her left front elbow yesterday. It had been there for a while, but recently Nina had been licking it, making it swell and become an open sore. So it had to come off. The vet sent the raspberry bump to be biopsied, because there is a slight chance it could be cancerous. We are really hoping that is not the case, but it is a slight possibility. Currently, she is wearing a plastic cone around her head to make sure she doesn’t lick the stitches open. She really dislikes the cone. Poor Nina is walking around the house very slowly with her tail between her legs and a very sad expression on her face. We hope her incision heals quickly!
Last week, as you probably know, was Calvin’s birthday week. Tuesday was his birthday and we took him to the Columbus Zoo to celebrate. He had a great time, as did his mommy and daddy! Since his birthday, Cal has decided to start acting like a true toddler:
e’s bumped it!).He’s been a handful, but would I have it any other way? Of course not! Things would be boring!
This week Cal also had his 12 month check up and his 2 month post-eye operation follow up. At his 12 month check up, Cal got 3 shots and screamed his little heart out. But, we found out he weighs 20 lbs and is 30 inches long, which is just about average for his age. It was also confirmed that he is experiencing night terrors in his sleep. He has been waking up (but not completely) and crying hysterically for a minute or two and then falling back to sleep a few nights a week for the last few weeks. Thankfully these aren’t anything to be concerned about, according to Cal’s doctor and he will more than likely grow out of them in the next few years. Unfortunately, they are no fun for Fred and I! We’re hoping that he outgrows these sooner than later!
At his 2 month post-eye operation appointment, we got good news: Cal’s eyes are looking great! It seems as though he will not need another surgery to keep his eye from turning! As long as his glasses are on, Cal’s eyes are straight and both being used. He still has to wear a patch over his right eye for 2 hours a day (for a while before his surgery it was 8+ hours a day), but it’s not much at all. Fred and I couldn’t be happier about this. Cal will probably always wear glasses, but his eyes will be straight and most important, he will be able to see out of both of them (had the surgery not gone well or been done at all, there was a possibility of him loosing the use of his left eye and being labeled legally blind). Yay!
Overall it was a good week for our family!
Oh, how could I forget…we also had 2 other family member birthdays this week:
Our niece Kayla turned 16 on Saturday and my little sister turned 23 on Sunday! Happy birthday girls!!!
Ok, so that was 2 words, but isn’t he the cutest stink flower? This is a picture from our trip to the Columbus Zoo yesterday. It’s a replica of the stinkiest flower in the world. And sometimes I think Calvin can rival it’s stinky-ness.
A few more pictures of our trip are here…there aren’t many from the birthday trip because shortly after we got to the zoo I dropped the camera and broke it. Luckily Fred’s camera on his phone takes pretty decent pictures. This was one of them!
