I’m not really a slacker!

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I swear!  I know that I said I wanted to post a few things every week and I’ve not been keeping up with that lately, but I’ve been busy!  As of today, we have less than 2 weeks until my due date.  That means I have probably no more than two and a half weeks left before I am the mother of 2 boys under 2 years old!  Cal was born 2 days past his due date, so I doubt that I will go much past that with this one, although it is possible (please send lots of good thoughts my way… I don’t want to be pregnant for longer than 2 more weeks!!!) that I could go a week or two past my due date still.

So, like I said, I’ve been busy.  Doing what, you ask?  Hmm, some call it nesting while others would simply call it living.  Either way, I (along with Fred and Calvin and even Nina) have been busy getting ready for the arrival of our newest family member:

1. Cleaned up the nursery: Fred and I moved all of Cal’s things out of the nursery (like his clothes and toys) and put all the infant things back in (like the little clothes!).

2. Finished putting together the odds and ends in Cal’s new room (all the decorations are up).

3. Broke Cal of his night time bottle (Yay!! He’s turning into such a big boy!).

4. Washed and stuffed all the new cloth diapers we bought for  Baby J 2.o.

5. Cooking and freezing meals for after our new baby joins us.  Check out this awesome site about freezer meals (aka Once A Month Cooking).

6. Walking and hiking as much as possible (Nina is good at helping with this).

7. Washing all the fabric covered infant accessory surfaces in the washing machine.

8. Working (and making a little money in order to afford living expenses for everyone in our family).

So really, I’ve been busy and haven’t meant to neglect blogging all the updates in the lives of Fred-n-Sara.  I have some other things I’ve wanted to post about, hopefully I’ll get to them soon.  But until then, just know I’m not neglecting my blogger duties on purpose!

New Photo Album

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Finally, I have fixed the photo album page on our site.  It now contains working links to our new photo page at Shutterfly.

Our photo page doesn’t contain all the pictures that our original photo site at Flikr did, but it does have recent pictures on it, including all the Calvin pictures I have taken (or at least the good ones).  I’m still working on getting all the other pictures up there too.  I try to update it with new pictures as I take them, so check it often to see new pictures of the cutest baby ever!

Speaking of cutest baby ever, here’s two 5 month pictures for you:

Cal is starting to sit up on his own, he still falls over after a few minutes, but he’s working on staying up!

Please ignore the drool spots…he’s drooling like a mad man all the time now!

Just around the corner…

is Christmas!  I can’t believe Thanksgiving is in two short weeks.  Where has the time gone?

We’ve gotten asked a few times already what to get Calvin for Christmas and honestly, there isn’t much that our little bundle of joy needs.  He’s happy studying and sucking his hands, talking to his Hula Monkey toy, and napping.  However, I know that despite him needing very little, family and friends may feel the urge to shower him with gifts in the spirit of the season, so I have put together a wish list for Cal on amazon.com.

Also in the coming months, Cal is going to keep growing and will be in need of clothes for the season.  Right now he is wearing 3-6 month clothes, with room to spare (read: he’ll be wearing this size probably at least through January).  He has enough footed sleepers, blanket sleepers, and short sleeved onesies in this size.  He also has 2 snow suits and car-seat covers (thanks to Jen!).  What he could use is a few warmer outfits with long sleeves and socks (the Old Navy and Baby Gap socks are the only socks I have found that stay on his chubby feet!) and clothes in size 6-9 months.

Like I said, this list is just a suggestion list if you were thinking of getting something for little Cal for Christmas.  Do not feel obligated to buy him gifts (he won’t know the difference anyway!) just because I posted a list.  Every kid has to have a list for Santa though, right?  Anyway, if you do buy him a gift, feel free to buy from www.amazon.com through our store, linked in this post, on the right hand side of our home page, and under the tab “Store” at the top of our home page; the purchases made through our store allow us to earn money off our own purchases for things (like my text books for master’s classes next semester!).

Happy Shopping!

Lets Travel.

Matthew Harding spent 14 months visiting 42 countries in order to produce “Where the Hell is Matt?”, a four-and-a-half minute video featuring Harding (and anyone else he could rope into it) doing an incredibly silly, high-energy dance in some of the most breathtaking scenery around the world. This may be the best four minutes and twenty-eight seconds of your week.

Matt is a 31-year-old deadbeat from Connecticut who used to think that all he ever wanted to do in life was make and play videogames. Matt achieved this goal pretty early and enjoyed it for a while, but eventually realized there might be other stuff he was missing out on. In February of 2003, he quit his job in Brisbane, Australia and used the money he’d saved to wander around Asia until it ran out. He made this site so he could keep his family and friends updated about where he is…
