Thankful on Thanksgiving

November 24th, 2011

Today we’re all especially thankful for something:

Calvin was thankful for vegetables!

Oliver was thankful for spinach artichoke dip and chips.

Laura was thankful for cuddles with Great-Grandma.

Fred and I? We’re just thankful we didn’t have to cook/host Thanksgiving dinner!

Yesterday’s news

November 24th, 2011

I’ve been busy getting things ready for today’s feast and didn’t get to yesterday’s thankful post. So, here it is:

November 23, 2011: I’m thankful for fast food restaurants with indoor play areas. I have two very active boys and on rainy days there really isn’t much better than an indoor play area where we can get lunch and then go home and all take naps. Except yesterday, not everyone napped (thanks Laura and Calvin!). That’s one reason I didn’t get to this post!

Charity

November 22nd, 2011

Today I’m thankful for local charities. Because without them, I’d have no idea what I’d do with the 10 large trash bags full of clothes that Fred and I cleaned out of the closets in our house. Oh, and the 1 box of toys!

Leftovers

November 21st, 2011

Today I am thankful for leftovers. Yep, for lunch today we had leftovers from dinner a couple nights ago and for dinner we had frozen (but thawed, of course!) leftovers from June. I love not having to put much thought into healthy meals sometimes!

Good Health

November 20th, 2011

Today I’m thankful for my family’s good health. Despite the odd stomach bug or sinus infection, the 5 of us here have managed to stay pretty healthy lately. I took Laura to the pediatrician for her 4 month check up this past Monday and the pediatrician was happy to see that we hadn’t brought her in over an illness or even really had a problem that we had called about in the two months since her last check up. The boys haven’t had to go in, other than for regular check-ups in a long time, either. Nor Fred or I. And that makes me very happy. Everyday I pray for continued good health; for all of us and for our extended family and friends.
